Description
Melody is currently a Masters Degree student at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, pursuing a specialty in Clinical Research Administration. Previously, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Health Studies (Public Health and Maternal/Child Health Education) from Hampshire College (Amherst, MA). While at Hampshire, she was also trained as an Emergency Medical Technician & CPR Instructor. Additionally, she studied epidemiology at the University of Massachusetts School of Public Health.
Melody studied childbirth through the Perinatal Health Educator and Labor Support Specialist (Doula) training program at the University of California, San Diego. She did her student teaching at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women (Lamaze-based classes) and the Best Start Birth Center (ICEA classes), both in San Diego, California. She is a certified labor doula (CLD) with CAPPA, and a member of several other professional organizations.
Melody has also completed additional training in the birth field, including the Lactation Management Specialist training (through Lactation Education Resources in Virginia), and continues to stay current in the field by attending professional conferences and continuing education programs.
