Purpose and History
The Agape Center is located at the corner of Eighth Street and Third Avenue. Its purpose is to provide a place where recovering alcoholics and other chemically dependent persons, and their family members can meet in a safe and comfortable atmosphere. It is designed to be a haven and refuge from the stress of the outside world---a place where fellowship, education and other activities leading to recovery may be found. The Agape Center is not affiliated with Alcoholics Anonymous or any other Twelve Step program. However, Twelve Step principles are used as the guiding standard in the daily operation and function of the Center.
Recovering alcoholics and other chemically dependent persons, members of their families and others interested in the disease of chemical dependency and its problems are eligible to become members of the Agape Center.
Membership dues are used for the maintenance of the Center (i.e. utility bills, supplies, etc.). Dues are waived for lower-income or indigent members. An entire family living under the same roof may become members by paying a family fee. Lifetime memberships are also available.
