Title

Welcome to The Aesthetic

Description

The Aesthetic began in 1999 as a free print publication covering the arts scene of Los Angeles' South Bay. The next year, we added a website to suplement the print issue. Now the publication exists solely online, serving anyone interested in things that don't get much play in the local media, including the arts, the aesthetic environment and an objective look at local politics.

The Aesthetic's new website is a streamlined version of the old website with new graphics, simpler navigation and different content. The column on the left features longer pieces — columns, news and features. While these will be updated frequently, the column on the right will offer more timely updates. It will serve as sort of a running dialogue on happenings in the larger South Bay area. New items will be included on a daily basis, give or take a day. Because of the labor involved, The Aesthetic will no longer offer a running calendar, artist profiles or its resource guide. The right-hand column will contain most of that information as it comes in. The jury's still out on whether we will try to include a page for readers' letters. For the time being, we won't.

The new site was designed by Garrison Frost, who is also the site's editor and primary contributor. Compliments and complaints can be sent here.
