What Were About

PRISM is a forum site started by a group of people who play Sims 2. They were concerned about the number of players having problems with SecuROM disabling CD/DVD drives, detecting emulation software when no illegal software was installed, changing firewall settings, etc. Most of the info about SecuROM was very technical and hard for the average person to understand.

In May 2008 a site called Simmers against SecuROM was formed. It included a forum and an informational site. It wasn't too long after SAS was formed, that other gamers were affected by SecROM. It was realized that there was a need to expand the scope of the site to include other gamers and other forms of copy protection. Many Mass Effect gamers joined and players of other games have since followed suit. Having other games involved necessitated a name change. A vote was taken on member nominated names and PRISM was chosen. PRISM is an acronym for Players Resisting Invasive Security Measures. Reclaim Your Game was chosen for the informational site.

PRISM and her sister site RYG (Reclaim Your Game) were thus born. RYG is dedicated to articles and educating gamers about many things. On RYG you will find an explanation of SecuROM in non technical terms. There are also many tutorials on upgrading hardware components, others on computer maintenance and a SecuROM removal tutorial.

Prism is the forum for RYG and where many interesting conversations take place. The big topic right now is the article containing a question and answer session with Jan Samzelius the CEO of ByteShield. The discussion is very civil and the hope is that Jan Samzelius will come to participate in it.

At PRISM you can ask for help with technical problems of a general nature. There is also a place to ask for help with SecuROM removaland a real person will walk you through the steps.

Prism is also where a Community Campaign was started to see what recourse we had to fight this DRM. It involved looking at writing a petition, encouraging people to file claims with the BBB, a mailing campaign and other things. The legal avenues were also investigated. There are now 5 lawsuitsagainst EA. Several members of PRISM are involved and are helping the lawyers gather the technical evidence needed to win.
