Description

Established in 1996, Toxteth Educational Trust (TET) is a small, independent charity working in Toxteth, South Liverpool. TET was formed as part of the exit strategy for the Granby Toxteth Task Force in the mid 1990s to develop a co-ordinated approach amongst schools and the community to raise educational expectation and achievement of children and young people in the Toxteth area.

Toxteth is well known as an area of multiple disadvantage including high crime, high and long term unemployment rates, large numbers of Black and Ethnic Minority, refugee and asylum seeker communities, low educational achievement, poor health and poor housing.

A group of around 20 local headteachers came together with community representatives to find innovative and co-ordinated ways of raising achievement and TET became a partner and received initial funding from the ReachOut to Parents SRB Programme.
