Cold Hanworth Forge Blacksmithing School, Lincolnshire

Description

The Cold Hanworth Forge School of Blacksmithing was launched in Dec 2001, Bob Oakes a well known Artist Blacksmith for 25 years had taught adult education evening classes in schools and weekend courses at his previous forge at Alvingham near Louth, Lincolnshire. The moving to larger premises enabled Bob to set up a purpose built Blacksmithing school, We have a teacher /pupil ratio of one to eight, everyone using an individual forge hearth. We make no apologies for working our students hard to achieve a high standard of work and above all the confidence to operate a forge and produce ironwork they can be proud of, Our students come from all walks of life and for all reasons: To enjoy a totally different activity, an enjoyable break from their normal routine; to learn the basics of a hobby they can pursue alongside their job or even in retirement; to change direct! ion in career, a job they can enjoy: and for established smiths to develop their existing skills and experience: Contrary to ill informed opinion, Blacksmithing is no longer a male dominated craft, we have many ladies participating in our courses with splendid results, Situated in Lincolnshire, we are in an ideal situation for easy access from both North, South and theMidlands, our prices are extremely reasonable offering an all in package (including meals at the popular ‘Farmers Arms country restaurant)for what many would pay for on course fees alone at other places of learning, The sheer number of students who return for repeat courses, only serves to regard Cold Hanworth Forge as a centre of excellence in blacksmithing tuition.
