The Sweater Letter

Description

Dave Distel is a veteran writer who spent 23 years with the Los Angeles Times before leaving the paper when it closed its San Diego County Edition in December of 1992. He has freelanced since, "ghost-writing" two books. The first was the controversial "Michael and Me"—a tale of gambling and gamboling—involving author Richard Esquinas and basketball star Michael Jordan that was published in 1993. The second was "Race Horse Doctor," the biography of Dr. Jock Jocoy, the renowned thoroughbred horseracing veterinarian whose patients (and their owners) were among the brightest stars of the last half of the 20

century. He has returned to his Michigan roots and lives in Ontonagon, an Upper Peninsula village on the shore of Lake Superior.

Lynn Distel, born and raised in Ontonagon, was involved in interviews, research, trial coverage and editing in addition to providing valuable insight into the nuances of life in the Upper Peninsula.
