The Sunshine Coast Astronomy Club was formed on July 30th 2004 when a group of 16 enthusiasts met in Sandy Hook near Sechelt, on the B.C. Sunshine Coast. Since September 30th, 55 members have registered and, through one of its members, the Club found a home at the elementary school in Halfmoon Bay. The Club moved to a new permanent home at Chatelech High School in Sechelt on April 1st 2005.

Meetings are held on the last Friday of every month, commencing at 7.30pm with a business meeting and lecture or educational class that is over by 9pm. Following the meeting everyone heads outside for observing with the many telescopes set up by club members. Tea and coffee are always served and in inclement weather members can stay indoors and socialize.
