Title

Stray Rescue of St. Louis

Description

We are a group of people who are tired of seeing the endless number of dogs, wandering and dying on our city streets. Here in St. Louis, as in other cities, the problem of pet overpopulation has continued to escalate. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, and their shots kept up-to-date, before they are adopted into their new homes. Dr. Ed, at city hospital, takes good care of all of our strays.

Many of our strays have been abused or neglected before they come to us. We've had dogs with heartworms, mange, parvo, and other diseases. Many have been neglected by their owners, and are malnourished, dirty, and matted. Most heart wrenching are the abuse cases. Some of our dogs have had broken legs, slit throats, and internal wounds. Goldie, our latest special stray, was thrown from a bridge into the Mississippi. Dr. Ed, from city hospital (there he is at right), takes good care of all of our dogs. He heals their wounds, gives them all needed shots, and does spaying and neutering. He does this at a greatly reduced cost. He's a very special person.

This is Peggy. She fosters many of our dogs, and spends a lot of her time training and socializing them. She has a special relationship with the dogs she cares for. They seem to know that she wants to help them. With her help, a lot of our dogs have gone from frightened, timid, and untrustful of humans, to loving, social pets. We are always in need of foster parents, people who care and want to make a difference. Please email or call Stray Rescue for information on how you can help.
