"For the love of great horses" is not just a motto for Stone Canyon Ranch, but the essence of the founder, Leanne Bovet Roberts. Her dream was to create a ranch where horses of great bloodlines were born into an atmosphere of love and caring that would produce tomorrow's show horse champions. Leanne brought her passion, vision and unwavering belief in that premise to every facet of Stone Canyon Ranch. It stands as the validation of her hopes and dreams for the future.
Above and beyond a place to raise great horses, Leanne also built a place of great peace and tranquility for herself, her family and staff, the horses and even the ever-present wildlife that has found safety at Stone Canyon Ranch. The ranch is an architectural marvel while still radiating the welcoming warmth and beauty that is a signature of the Roberts family. Art, sculpture surprises and delights are found throughout the ranch and gardens. Plantings designed for their color and perfume mix perfectly with wildflowers and shade trees. Songbirds bring their music while lakes and ponds add their cool blue pleasure, and water birds are constantly in residence. Everything looks natural, nested in place. The team that handles the horse program is matched by a staff of gardeners that tend every corner of this brilliant setting. Whether walking the paths around the gardens or riding trails laid out over the thousands of acres, there is truly a treat for the eye wherever you look.
These mares, pedigreed and proven, are the very foundation of the breeding program at Stone Canyon Ranch. The commitment to both pleasure and reining horses brings focus on a carefully selected set of mares to represent these disciplines. We are constantly striving to improve and upgrade the breeding program. The selection of a new mare for our program is based on performance, conformation and temperament. With this base in mind, the selected mare is then bred to a highly reputed stallion that will compliment their strong traits. Stallions currently siring our future prospects include Invitation Only, Good Version, Sweet Talking Chip, Zips Chocolate Chip, Zippos Old Gold, Artful Move, Natural Iron and Skys Blue Boy for the Western Pleasure and Hunt Seat mares. For the Reining-bred mares, we've chosen Hollywood Dun It, Chic Please, Custom Chrome, Gunner, Shining Spark and our young sire, The Big Gun. While many of our mares are retired from competition and spend their time roaming the lush green pastures at Stone Canyon Ranch, others continue to compete at national levels while producing future champions through embryo transfer.
