The Stanstead Journal is Quebec oldest weekly newspaper, it serves the region of Stanstead in the Mrc de Memphremagog an a part of the Mrc de Coaticook and Sherbrooke all in Quebec, Canada, plus a part of Northern Vermont. Municipaliies and buroughs served are: Stanstead, Stansted Township, Stanstead-East, Ogden, Georgeville, Graniteville, Fitch Bay, Ayer's Cliff, Hatley, North Hatley, Barnston West, Waterville, Lennoxville and Ascot. Stanstead is a border town, home of the world renowned Haskell Library which straddled the Canada Uniterd States of America border with its twin town of Derby Line Vermont. Canusa street is located in both Beebe, Vermont and Stanstead Quebec. Stanstead is the result of the amalgamation of Stanstead Plain, Rock Island and Beebe that happened in 1995. Most citizens of our regions are proudly bilingual. A lot are dual citizen since they were born in the United States, most at the Newport, Vt. hospital. Stanstead is also home to the Stanstead College, an internationaly recongnized residential high-school that attracts students from across the worls. The Stanstead Journal was founded by LeRoy Robinson. Other English newspapers in our regions are the Sherbrooke Record and in the United States, the Newport daily Express and the Chronicle.
