To promote the return to society of stroke survivors by providing a friendly environment for socialization. Peer support of both survivors and caregivers is the cornerstone of SRAO philsophy
Stroke is the third largest cause of death in Canada, and the leading cause of adult disability. The SRAO, Burlington Chapter is necessary because stroke is, by its very nature, socially isolating. After a stroke, survivors are often cut off from the world of work, recreation and fellowship by permanent physical and mental disabilities. The SRA provides a community of support and friendship, helping to rebuild lives changed forever.
Services
Monthly Membership Meetings are held every 4th Tuesday of the month in the Shoreline Room of the Burlington Art Centre, 1333 Lakeshore Road at 7:30 PM. from September through June. A speaker, entertainment, or group discussion is followed by coffee, tea and snack and social time.
