Title

Welcome to Spring on Bequia hotel

Description

Most Americans pronounce it as BEK-wee, although some say BEK-way. Native Bequian's pronunciation is somewhere in between, something like BEK-weh, although they speak the second syllable quickly, making its exact pronunciation a bit difficult to discern.

Bequia's mother island is St. Vincent, located nine miles to the north. The country of St. Vincent and the Grenadines declared its independence from Great Britain in 1979, and is now a member of the British Commonwealth.

Bequia is of volcanic origin, as are all of the Grenadines. Only six square miles, its hills run from an elevation of over 800 feet down to fertile valleys at sea level. Although not a tropical rain forest, its foliage grows lushly most of the year.
