Description
South Parade Baptist Church is a fellowship of approximately 750 people who meet in various parts of Leeds in West Yorkshire. There are services at three different venues on each Sunday morning: at Headingley (across the road from the famous Test & County Cricket Ground); in Adel; and at Cragg Hill in Horsforth. The fourth congregation (4) meets on Sunday afternoons. On Sunday evenings the congregations come together for a united service at Headingley which also attracts a large number of the area's student population.
Brian Nicholls: Joined South Parade as Senior Pastor in September 2005, having previously been Regional Minister Team Leader with the Heart of England Baptist Association in the West Midlands.
He was born in Durham City where his parents were church planters. He was 15 when he first knew that God was calling him into ministry, and later trained at Northern Baptist College before becoming minister for nine years in four village Baptist Churches on the edge of the Peak District. For the next 13 years he was Senior Pastor at Mansfield Road Baptist Church in Nottingham before moving to the Heart of England in 1995.
