- Coming soon to a browser near you - the Soemtron ETR 220. We have the technology, we have rebuilt her. This website is dedicated to the Soemtron ETR range of electronic calculators produced by Sömmerda Electronics, previously the The German Rheinmetall heavy engineering works who were established in Düsseldorf in 1889. Over time we will conserve and hopefully get into working order this interesting piece of Eastern Bloc calculator history from the 1960's. Bookmark this page and come back from time to time for a visit to see how we are getting on. We will eventually publish a full circuit diagram of the machine and its inner workings for those of you who are interested. This month we received a partially working Soemtron ETR 222 from an Ebay sale in Germany, quite a rare little beastie, although not a rare as a Soemtron 224 !. These ETR 222's were apparently in production between 1970 and 1972 with only about 3000 of them being built.
