- In July of 1997 we, the women of the Undernet channel #SoberDykes, found that we were having a problem with communication and needed a place to put the information about our channel so that the channel operators and members could access it easily. Aclue, one of the #SoberDykes channel operators, put together our first #SoberDykes on the Undernet page to set us up and on the WWW. She found us a home on Geocities and placed the first pages on the web. Originally, #SoberDykes on the Undernet was located in the West Hollywood neighborhood of Geocities because the content was predominately for lesbians.
