Founded in 1877 as Lexington's first hospital, Saint Joseph Hospital is the area's largest not-for-profit hospital and is a member facility of Catholic Health Initiatives, the nation's largest Catholic not-for-profit health care organization, based in Denver, Colorado.
Since 1959, Saint Joseph Hospital has been located on the corner of Harrodsburg Road and Waller Avenue. On December 1, 1998, Saint Joseph East, formerly Jewish Hospital Lexington, joined Saint Joseph HealthCare. It is located on North Eagle Creek Drive, just off Richmond Road.
Saint Joseph Hospital and Saint Joseph East, both tertiary treatment and referral centers, serve the health care needs of Lexington and Central and Eastern Kentucky. We strive to offer a broad range of medical services and educational programs to meet community needs.
