Description

pulled from site's meta description

The Simmons Coleman Manor (SCM) in South Los Angeles has been providing a place of warmth and comfort to the homeless, women and children.

Mrs. Barbara Coleman is the founder and executive director of the shelter. Coleman worked at Kaiser Permanente as the first Black woman to serve as  Regional Radiation Coordinator in the Department. After her retirement, Coleman continued to feel an affinity towards helping people. She founded the SIimmons Coleman Manor in 1996 and it was secured as a residential complex for retirement, senior adults and homeless in transition.

The Simmons Coleman Manor, an emergency housing shelter, is currently accepting applications for those who need a place to live in a home-like atmosphere.

At a time when many Americans are assuming more wealth and prosperity than ever before, we must not forget about the Americans who are not privy to the "rising tide." Despite its absence from headlines, the working class is still in the midst of an affordable housing dilemma. Being poor means being an illness, accident, or paycheck away from living on the streets.

The Simmons Coleman Manor is located at 3757 Halldale Ave. in Los Angeles.
