Tradition and History
The religious order founded by St. Benedict has endured through the centuries striving to meet the needs of the Church as they arose.
In the 1850's Benedictine nuns left their cloister in Eichstätt, Bavaria, to come to America to educate the children of German immigrants. By 1900 the need for Catholic education was felt in Alabama, and Sacred Heart Convent was founded.
