Pearls are the most subtle and personal gems. Whereas diamonds dazzle with their hard brilliance, fine pearls project a soft, sensuous elegance that draws attention to the wearer rather than themselves. Which likely explains why throughout most of recorded history, pearls have been treasured above all other gems.
To meet Shima's exacting standards, each pearl is critically examined for color, luster, roundness, and surface imperfections. For every one accepted, hundreds may be rejected.
Also at Shima, creativity continues where nature left off. We are probably as well known for the originality and craftsmanship of our designs as we are for the quality of our pearls. In order to remain second to none in quality and design, we rely on our own graders, designers, and artisans.
