What is Sheikh Salem House?
A new Guest House in Dahab, Assalah set on a sandy beach at the start of a quiet residential area. We are Bedouin owned and managed by and English/Egyptian and Bedouin Team in a new and unique partnership arrangement with the Bedouin Sheikh of Dahab.
We offer a wide choice of accommodation, from Deluxe Suites set on the beach, to Garden Suites, Budget Rooms with shared bathrooms and Holiday Apartment rentals for groups and families.
All guests can share the beach and sunny garden. Guest services office for booking of activities and Bedouin desert safaris. Our office provides local information and travel information for Sinai and Egypt.
A new garden cafe in opening in December 2006 and also on site is Dai Pescatori italian resturant for fine dinning in Dahab.
Why are we a Guest House with a difference?
Since the House was built in 1994 it has been an important part of Dahabs community and history. Intially it was built as a family house for the Sheikh. After this it became home to Dahabs Diving Community. After a series of ups and downs we now present the house as a Guest House, the home of a Sheikh now open to all to enjoy.
Our business is formed from a partnership and a passion for the Bedouin Culture in Sinai. Our guests have the oppurtunity to get close to the Bedouin community in Dahab through our safaris and through further projects that we are planning for 2007. We use Bedouin Guides for our Desert Safari's and aim to employ as many local people as possible throughout our business.
We are eco aware, we have re - used, recycled and conserved as much as we could from the old building development to the guest house development. We have introduced energy saving light bulbs, energy efficency schemes and composting of food waste. We want to keep Dahab beautiful and we will work with local partners and charities, whilst we continue to improve.
We support artistic and creative activities and aim to make temporary exhibitions within our garden area. To hold live music and artistic events on our site throughout the year. We are currently planning our schedule for 2007.
Additional Information
Sheikh Salem House is managed by The Spirit of Dahab Partnership Company (Egypt). The company is registered at Sheikh Salem House and aims to expand into further areas in 2007/08.
Our long term plans is to reinvest our profits back into the local community and into further projects. We have a number of projects planned starting in 2007 to start to make a difference. By improving our green practises, caring for our enviroment and woking with bedouin families we hope to start making a difference to those living and working in Dahab.
