I started SevenZest in 2005 as a quest to provide support for young, talented designers in New Zealand. I experimented with freelance work and continue to develop industry experience in the hopes to ‘spread the word’ to other designers who are starting out, what it is like in ‘the real world’.
SevenZest realizes that to develop designers to their full potential, guidance is essential for the their creative development and the fruition of a creative career. SevenZest offers the opportunity for designers to engage in design issues and to submit their own perspective of their special interests. Members of SevenZest are welcome to offer their skills and expertise to other members, whose challenge is to come up with fresh and dynamic ideas on a daily basis.
The SevenZest website promotes visual design in everyday life and allows creative exhibition for designers and clients. It supports individualism and voices in the design community through forums, articles, cultural events and creative practices. SevenZest devotes attention to collecting current resources crucial for young professionals – technical solutions, work-related advice, design tools and international creative links. The SevenZest website also provides a niche for connections between creative individuals, and gives insight to how others are contributing to positive changes in the media and public arena. In short – it reduces the isolation between designers that have resulted from industry competition and other societal factors.
