SENSSONIC is formed in January 2004 by Dr. Alexander Sutin, Dr. Paul Johnson, and two former Los Alamos National Laboratory business executives: Christopher Kunz and Riccardo Savini.
Dr. Alexander Sutin (Stevens Institute of Technology) and Dr. Paul Johnson (Los Alamos National Laboratory) have been collaborating for many years, and over the years have develop extremely powerful non-destructive testing and evaluation methods, including various Nonlinear Elastic Wave Spectroscopy (NEWS) and nonlinear acoustic techniques. Dr. Sutin and Dr. Johnson are the pioneers and leading experts in the field, an have over a dozen related publications in magazines such as Physics Today.
SENSSONIC is developing portable and floor size Non-Destructive Inspection instruments based on Nonlinear Elastic Wave Spectroscopy (NEWS). NEWS represents the new frontier of non-destructive inspection and evaluation (NDI/E). NEWS encompasses a battery of nonlinear ultrasonic methods that are remarkably more sensitive to the detection of progression of damage in materials. These methods are also more practical, cost-effective, and simple than existing nonlinear and traditional linear methods.
