Description
The mission of the Scratch DJ Academy is simple: Education and Access. Scratch intends to educate amateur DJ's and enthusiasts by providing them with the necessary equipment and copy written curriculum to learn this popular art form, as well as providing access to world famous DJ instructors.
Furthermore, Scratch aims to unify, legitimize, validate and extend the role and importance of the DJ into new arenas, by extracting the value of the DJ as an art, a hobby and a profession, and constructively disseminating it to the public.
Scratch DJ Academy, headquartered in New York City and with locations in Los Angeles and Miami, teaches students the popular and musical art form of the DJ. Founded in 2002 by Rob Principe (current CEO), Reg E. Gaines (author, Bring In Da Noise, Bring In Da Funk, and two time Grammy and Tony Award nominee) and the late Jam Master Jay (Legendary DJ of Run DMC), Scratch DJ Academy's goal is to lower the barrier to entry for those interested in DJ’ing and music production.
