Description
Formed in 1997, Schadenfreude began performing sketch comedy at Café Ashie on Chicago's north side. The comedy troupe then presented an open at Chicago's Heartland Studio Theater, and has since performed at countless venues including The Goodman Theatre in Chicago, The Second City, the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles, and the HERE Arts Centre in New York City. The ensemble also headlined sold-out shows at the 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002 Chicago Improv Festivals and was the first group to receive the CIF's "Festival Highlight Award."
Other credits include performances at the SunDevil Comedy Festival in Tempe, Arizona, the Chicago Comedy Festival, the Around the Coyote Arts Festival, the BS4 Comedy Festival in Austin, Texas, ComedySportz,ImprovOlympic, and at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland.
Schadenfreude has also mounted runs at the Wing and Groove Theater in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood, at the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Height, at the Lakeshore Theater in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood, and at colleges and universities across the country.
