Description
The Acupuncture Clinic was founded in 1979 by William Skelton, who moved to Columbia from California to work with the state legislature, the medical profession and community leaders to establish laws that would allow the practice of acupuncture in South Carolina.
From 1987 to 1996 Bill Skelton served as an executive commissioner of the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. In that position he worked to develop national and state acupuncture examinations and standards and with numerous states to develop acupuncture legislation and licensing.
Bill Skelton currently serves on the acupuncture committees of both South Carolina and Georgia. Both states have passed sensible legislation regulating the practice of acupuncture following years of work by many acupuncturists and friends of acupuncture in those states.
