Satzinger & Hardenberg Features is an Austrian animation design studio, characterized heavily by the style and the techniques of the classical hand-drawn animation. Satzinger & Hardenberg Features' main tasks are art direction, character design (avatar design), background design, story development as well as all development work (e.g. concept art) therewith connected, in the fields of feature animation pre-production, TV cartoon series, theme parks, consumer product design, children's books etc.
Although Satzinger & Hardenberg Features was founded in Dortmund (Germany) 1995, the home office is located in Steiermark's capital city Graz (Austria). Florian Satzinger, Satzinger & Hardenberg Features' chief creative officer, was a student of the legendary Disney and Hanna-Barbera veteran animator animation director Ken Southworth at the Vancouver Institute of Media Arts (Canada). Florian Satzinger's designs are deeply influenced by the art of classical animation features and shorts. For one thing by the pencilly atmosphere of those Disney classics which were made under the direction of Wolfgang Reitherman, for another thing by Chuck Jones' Warner Bros. cartoon fireworks.
