Santa Clarita Valley is located 35 miles North of Los Angeles and 40 miles due West of the Pacific Ocean and spans approximately 200 square miles. Santa Clarita Valley consists of the City of Santa Clarita, which was established in 1987. Included are Canyon Country, Newhall, Saugus and Valencia.

The City of Santa Clarita consists of 46.7 square miles, which is 1/4th the size of Santa Clarita Valley, thus granting it one of the largest cities geographically in the Los Angeles County. The population of the City of Santa Clarita is over 162,000 and according to the U.S. Census Bureau Santa Clarita Valley's population is more than 213,000. The Southern California Association of Governments for example, expects the population to reach over 243,000 by 2010 and over 350,000 by 2025.
