Description
Golden Gate Fields, which is located approximately eight miles from Oakland and 11 miles from San Francisco, commenced its inaugural meet in 1941.
Golden Gate Fields' racing season of approximately 105 racing days complements both Santa Anita Park's and Bay Meadows' racing schedules by adding racing days between the end of The Oak Tree Meet and the beginning of The Santa Anita Meet, and by racing when Bay Meadows is dark.
Golden Gate Fields' facilities sit on 181 acres of land and include a one-mile main track and a 9/10-mile turf course. MEC acquired Golden Gate Fields in December 1999.
