Welcome to Sail Caribbean's Teen Adventure Camps
Since 1979, Sail Caribbean has empowered thousands of students, from 12 years old to college age, with new abilities, new confidence, and long-lasting friendships at their summer sailing camps and teen scuba diving camps. The programs teach essential life skills - leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, decision-making, and responding to the unexpected - as students navigate through their formative years. Sail Caribbean’s core values have remained strong throughout their history: respect for one another, respect for the environment and a belief that together people can achieve great things.
Students live aboard 47 to 52-foot monohulls or 43-foot catamarans with a staff captain and mate and sail in fleets of 2-6 boats. Students on boats are grouped by grade and age.
No sailing or watersports experience is necessary, just a will to learn, a desire to take on responsibility, a comfort level on the water, and a sense of adventure.
Safety and health come first! Every staff member is certified in Wilderness First Aid and CPR and participate in emergency training scenarios. Medical Officers are EMTs or Wildernesss First Responders. Programs are always in contact with the base.
The programs cover two stunning island chains in the Caribbean - the British Virgin Islands and the Leeward Islands.
Each program offers a range of activities and a unique focus: watersports, scuba diving, community service, cultural exploration, environmental studies, marine biology and leadership training.
Community service is incorporated into every program.
Programs range from 12 to 24 days and can be combined for extended teen summer camp excursions.
The overall student-to-staff ratio is 4:1. Staff is selected from an applicant pool of the most experienced, committed, and capable instructors and mentors anywhere.
Sail Caribbean is the only teen summer camp with their own year-round dive operation, Sail Caribbean Divers. Full-time professional PADI instructors provide comprehensive dive education for teen scuba camp students.
Caribbean summer weather is sunny, with water and air temps around 85 degrees, and constant cooling trade winds of 10-15 knots. Weather is monitored constantly.
