Ron's Precision Machine, Inc. (R.P.M.) was started in the spring of 1978, by Ron LeMmon. Before the machine shop was started, Ron was a printer for approx. 20 years and also working out of his basement and garage, doing porting work on cylinder heads and building engines.

He started racing in 1967 in a '67 Camaro, in A/MP with a L-88 427 B.B.C. 4-speed trans. In 1970 Ron built a 1931 Plymouth roadster which he ran in B/street roadster for approx. 5 years with a 327 cu. in. chevy engine and a Nash-5-speed transmission. In 1975 he had a chassis shop build a '27 roadster to race brackets in, with a 327 engine and a 5-speed trans. This car was crashed in Pocatello, Idaho and sold that day. Ron then went back to his home built Plymouth and raced brackets until 1981 where he bought a Pinto and modified the chassis and installed a 327 cu. in. chevy and Nash 5-speed trans. In 1982 Ron took his car to Pomona, Cal. and tried his hand at Super/Gas racing. He tried an automatic trans at that race and could not qualify on the 9.90 index with the automatic so installed the 5-speed back into the car, broke it, then came home to re-group. It was decided to build a 355 cu. in. chevy w/ a better auto trans. built by TCI w/ a trans. brake. This was a real good decision, because the car woke right up and ran a 9.27 at 147 m.p.h. Now the problem was to slow the car down to run the 9.90 index. In 1984 Ron and crew built another '27 Ford roadster to run in S/G. This car was built at R.P.M. in the chassis shop and proved to be one of the best S/G cars in the country!
