We invite everyone residing in the Rosamond area to attend our meetings: civic organizations, like the Rotary, Womens Club, MOPS, PTA, AYSO, VFW, American Legion, etc. have time set aside at the Town Hall Meetings expressly for announcing events they want other Rosamond-ites to know about.
This morning, the Kern County Board of Supervisors voted to pass an ordinance to seize the automobiles of people who participate in illegal dumping activities. Supervisor Rubio originally made a referral to staff in February to explore the legal requirements of introducing such an ordinance. Today, the ordinance came before the Board and was approved by a 4-1 vote after discussion by Board members. “Illegal dumpers need to face serious sanctions, including possibly losing their cars if they insist on committing this crime. I believe that this ordinance will serve as a great deterrent against people that think that they can dump trash throughout the County without penalty,” Rubio said. “Fines are sometimes simply not enough.” Supervisor Rubio would like to thank all of the staff time and effort that it took to bring this ordinance before the Board. Their diligent hard work has now culminated in a rule that will effectively put a serious damper on activities that oftentimes damage Kern County’s public health and safety.
