- I have been breeding toy poodles since 1977. I started with a pair of silvers "just for fun". Then I bought two more and got "bit by the show bug" after entering a local fun match. I finished my first champion in 1983. Our daughters were involved in 4-H and the dog project so we also entered the AKC Junior Showmanship competition. One had a miniature poodle, the other a black cocker spaniel. Most weekends we were on the road to a show or with a car load of juniors to a 4-H dog competition. In 1984 I purchased a black miniature from my handler that had just finished his championship. This of course, called for a couple of females to show.
