Rio Grande Trading Co. Western Antiques

Description

Owners Bruce and Julianne Bartlett have been collectors and dealers of Western Americana, specializing in Texas-style bits and spurs, since 1989. Bruce currently serves on the board of the National Bit, Spur and Saddle Collectors Association and as a member of the Advisory Board of the National Ranching Heritage Center in Lubbock, Texas. Bruce is a member of the Texas Gun Collectors Association, the Antique Bowie Knife Association and the Alamo Arms Collectors Association. Bruce and Julianne reside in San Antonio, Texas.

Bruce graduated from Baylor University in 1987 with a degree in history. After eight years in the restaurant business he followed his passion and began trading western memorabilia full time in 1995. In 1997 when Lone Star Brewery closed down their San Antonio operations and sold the Buckhorn Hall of Horns, Bruce was instrumental in moving the collection to a grand new location in downtown San Antonio, reminiscent of the original saloon founded in 1886.

Julianne’s background is in business. She is a CPA and received her accounting degree from Baylor University in 1988. She worked as an auditor for Peat Marwick (1988-1989), an assistant vice-president for Pacific Southwest Bank (1989-1990), and as assistant controller for Mission City Management (1990-1997). She currently runs the business aspect of Rio Grande Trading Co. as well as performs the accounting for the Bartletts’ real estate holdings.
