I was in Fenway Park on Monday to watch the 2-1 finale of a five game sweep that has been dubbed “The Boston Massacre, Part Two” …. before we get to the obituary, I must reference Jishman’s post fromJuly 9th entitled What do these Guys Have In Common?
This morning, I was listening to the local sports radio morons rant and rave about how the Yankees have bought their success, and while I couldn’t really disagree that they had spent a ton of money stupidly, when he refused to even discuss the success that these “Baby Yankees” were having, that was when I just changed the channel. I mean, seriously, if you want to rant and rave, go ahead, but rant and rave when you have a leg to stand on. The Yankees aren’t going to scare anybody when you get to the lower third of the lineup any more, but come on! This team with NOBODY has the 6th best record in the league!
I get it. I know that the Yankees have higher payroll than everyone. I know that they get killed every time that comes up, but Boston Sports Freaks, let’s try not to forget that the Red Sox have the second highest payroll, and are only leading the Yankees by 3 games WITH ALL OF THEIR STARTERS on the field, every freaking day! If you can’t win, just shut the hell up!
