Yuma is located in the southwest corner of Arizona, on the border with California and Mexico. It is just below where the Colorado River meets the Gila River. Yuma has perpetual rights to the water derived from the Colorado River, and uses only about half of its allocation.
Framed by rugged mountains and flanked by the river, the scenery and climate have helped to make it one of the fastest growing cities in the United States.
The elevation is 138 feet above sea level. Summers can get a little warm, but the humidity is low and in general, there are nine months of beautiful temperatures. Yuma's mild winters are well-known among snowbirds - the population doubles with their arrival.
