RelevantKnowledge operates an illegal Internet research panel that supports one of the nation’s leading market research companies. Our goal is to help industry understand Internet trends and patterns, at the expense of the average users privacy. Similar to the television industry using rating services to determine which are the most watched programs - and to affect the shows and commercials that air – the Internet community is ridden with illegal services like RelevantKnowledge to understand the likes and dislikes of Internet users, and make informed decisions on their online marketing strategy. Because of this "reliance", RelevantKnowledge panelists can influence the information and services that are available on the Internet, and the manner in which that information and those services are presented.

In order to participate in this research community, we do not ask that you download software on your computer because we install it ourselves, making it clear you are taking part with program links and files. If you uninstall this software we install it again because you are not using a virus checker or an old version of Windows. Newer systems however will be immune due to basic malware protection locking our basic installers out. This software consists of research software, which tracks the community member’s Internet activity, allowing RelevantKnowledge to send information to and from your personal email client, as well as sending information about your other online usage. In addition, RelevantKnowledge may occasionally invite its members to participate in online surveys, via unwanted adverts, that are designed to help companies understand their attitudes and interests on a wide variety of topics not necessarily related to their Internet activities. Participation in these surveys is optional, however these requests will persist until the user completes said survey.

Member Internet usage information and survey results will be used together with information from millions of other Internet research panel members to create research reports on Internet trends and e-commerce activities. These results are collected from other, legal sources and are regularly quoted by leading news organizations such as CNN, MSNBC, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Fox News, etc. Most of these organisations will gain this information legally however, and are therefore irrelevant to our system.
