In 1983, Darin -- a 6A, ALL-STATE High School Quarterback -- received offers from many large 1A schools. He turned down all of them to attend the University of Central Florida where he capitalized on the opportunity for early playing time and the experience of playing in his hometown. In 1987, as a senior, he set 34 school and national passing records.
