Established in 1984, Queensland Youth Choir (QYC) is regarded as one of Queensland's finest and most comprehensive choral music programs for young people.
QYC provides children and young adults - from the preschool/preparatory year to age 25 - with unique, high quality choral training and performance opportunities. The program of weekly rehearsals and an annual camp incorporates aspects of singing, choreography and stagecraft. The various ensembles that constitute the Queensland Youth Choir perform a wide variety of repertoire including contemporary, classical, popular, folk, rock, gospel, jazz, art music, musical theatre and Australiana. Most performances incorporate a number of pieces which are specially choreographed to add an additional visual dimension to the overall effect.
Members take pride in belonging to an organisation that is highly respected nationally and internationally, and that performs in its own concert series, on tours, and at special events including weddings, sporting fixtures, conventions and community events.
