Title

Qgravity.org: Quantum Gravity, Physics and Philosophy

Description

Purpose of the site

Qgravity.org is a web site devoted to the subject of quantum gravity, which is the search for a unification of quantum theory and general relativity. The main function of these pages is to serve as a link from semipopular writings in the subject, such as the books that I and others have written, to places where one can find more information about the different approaches to quantum gravity. These include other semipopular writings, on the net and elsewhere, as well as links to the professional literature concerned with quantum gravity. By providing these we hope to enhance communication between specialists and lay people as well as between specialists working on different appraoches to quantum gravity.

Design of the site

We designed Qgravity.org to be clear and simple. It has a minimal amount of graphics for the same reasons that Jakob Nielson has almost no graphics at useit.com. It uses a cascading stylesheet, but you do not need to be using a browser that has stylesheets enabled. If you are using Netscape Navigator and you would like to view styled pages, you need to enable both stylesheets and javascript (because back when Navigator was designed stylesheets were related to javascript). You can use the W3C CSS Validator to look at the Qgravity.org stylesheet. This will display the styles in a nice format and you'll also be able to see if

Nancy McGough of Infinite Ink designed and created the site with a lot of feedback from Lee Smolin, who is the owner of Qgravity.org.
