- A Champion Duck and Goose Caller, turned Predator Purist. I started hunting Predators in Illinois at a early age, but with limited success. I can’t count how many stands I’ve made and gave up, either to early, or just lost interest altogether. I turned to Waterfowl seriously for over 20 years, then quiet a few years back a Good friend( and a Predator Hunting Phenom) told me if I put him on a good Duck Hunt he would take me Coyote Hunting. No Problem, I said. After a good morning hunt, and on the way home, he said pull over. What? I responded. Looking at rolling sage brush, and Lava blow outs. This looks good, what is the biggest shot load you have in the truck? He said. Some Steel #2's, Why are we going to go right here? I said with a confused look. Yep, with that we walked about 100 yards off the road, and he checked the wind, and told me to sit down with my back to some sage bush. I did exactly what he said and I thought he was nuts. I just put this guy on a fairly descent duck hunt and he is going to return the favor with this.... Just about the time the thought left my mind, he pulled of a riff of the most horrific set of Rabbit distress sounds I had ever heard to that point. Literally the hair on my neck stood on end. I figured if nothing responded it was worth it just to hear what a real pro sounds like. With the end of his first series 5 gray forms where at a flat out sprint coming right at me...Thats all it took, and I was hooked, and they were still 200 yards away... to make a good story short, he finally called the shot at about 5 yards. With the first shot I rolled the first coyote to pile of fur at my feet, and I turned to the next and put 2 shots of Steel #2's into his fast exiting rear, I still can picture the look on that coyote as each shell hit him. None the less. He let me know I didn’t miss with all the sounds of pain with every shot. He never stopped, nor did I see what happened to the other 3 coyotes. With that my life changed forever, and I hunted as much as I could to this day. With the experience of making my own line of High End Goose calls, and with my understanding of air presentation and back pressures. Now with the Waterfowl World behind me. I felt compelled to meet the challenge of creating my own line of Predator calls, all being made out of the same materials that the best Duck and Goose calls are made out of. With this I give you Pure Predator Calls.
