Lately I’ve been asked quiet a lot why I write my site in english and not in spanish, although I was born and live in Barcelona, Spain. The answer is because less than 5% of visits this site receives comes from latin countries. The top ten are USA, Japan, UK, Taiwan, France, Germany, Itlay, Netherlands, Australia, India, Brasil, and finally Spain in 12th position. Total list includes about 100 countries, and since unfortunally I can’t speak all their languages (I hardly can do with spanish and english), using english is a good way to get in touch with people who I couldn’t reach otherwise, as well as to practice my dusty english skills.
However, I’ve realized I’m more in touch with people from the other side of the globe than with many closer ones. I had considered posting twice both in spanish and english, but it would be too much work running 2 sites.
Today I found this Wordpress plugin ( “Polyglot” ) than enables posting translations quite easily, so I installed it to try. Aside some minor php tweaks installation was quite fast.
