Discussion
We need to rename the "weblog" to blog. Nobody knows what a weblog is and it's very bad for branding. Using the word weblog just seems like an aggressive attempt to start a fight with the entire internet.
- Many prominent people use the term weblog.
- Many people do use weblog; but, in a corporate enviroment most people are use to typing blog.companyname.com or atleast I am and have yet to see a whole lot of company weblogs, please post if you've seen one. Google has 1,910,000,000 for blog and 178,000,000 for weblog, I think if we want to keep the mainstream focus of users we have to use blog. I'd also like to see blog.aboutus.org instead of a domain name, or weblog.aboutus.org if we don't change the name. --Simon | talk 15:58, 19 December 2007 (PST)
- Simon, I think Mark and I are agreed that moving to weblog.aboutus.org or blog.aboutus.org is better than leaving it at aboutusweblog.org - we haven't fought over blog/weblog in a long time - Mark is so passionate about this point that I find it easier to just let him have his way, but I still don't understand his point - we also talked today about leaving it at aboutusweblog.org if the dev team doesn't have the time to give us a new blog (or move the old one) at the new url --- TedErnst (talk) 16:32, 19 December 2007 (PST)
