Candidate Quotes

You can blame whoever you want for the debt, the deficit, the problem with illegal immigration, the wars we find ourselves in, and so on… but whoever you blame has been or still is in Washington as a member of our two party system. Bluntly put, our system is not working.

We all want our president, or our heroes to be larger than life. We want to believe George Washington “could not tell a lie” and that President Lincoln was indeed “Honest Abe.” We want our pastors to be perfect, our teachers to be brilliant and inspiring, and our doctors to be flawless and infallible. But we are all human and these aren’t the movies. I am an ordinary guy. And I use the term “ordinary guy” not as an indication of my intelligence, ability, or passion; but my station in life. What I am trying to say, is that our elected officials vote on, pass, and enforce legislation that affects us. If they don’t know who we are, how can they represent us? Today’s career politicians – many who have not had a job in the private sector for decades, if ever! – are truly “out of touch” with the struggles and cares of the average, American citizen. They only appear to be back in touch when it comes to election time.

Featured Text -- Let's face it, we like our 2008 Presidential Election portal and we hope you do too. Not only is it a cool layout, but the hope is that it will blossom into a great forum for discussion in the coming year as we march forward towards the elections. In many ways, it's already begun. Pages like the RonPaul2008.com are regularly being edited by supporters of the candidate and the page continues to be a beacon of the kind of barn-raising a community can do on a wiki. But far be it from us to only focus on the major party candidates. Since one of the goals of AboutUs is a focus on the smaller, lesser known websites around the world, it follows that we'd have an interest on the smaller, lesser known candidates as well. Take for example Steve Adams, an independent candidate who took an invitation to building his WikiPage to heart and came to AboutUs to add his own information, including a mini-biography, quotes and platform. Now that's some grassroots campaigning!
