Preschool Power! began in 1991 when Carey Sutton, a writer-producer with well-known documentary film company called Concept Videos, enrolled her daughter, Blake, in a Montessori preschool in North Carolina. After spending some time there as a teacher's assistant and observing the Montessori Method in action, Carey realized the potential for a great children's video series.
It was an eye-opener for me to see these tiny little children doing so many things for themselves. And they worked with such obvious pride and joy of accomplishment," says Carey.
She was also impressed by the fact that in the mixed-age classroom, the younger children spent a lot of time watching and learning from the older ones.
