Born in south Texas, in 1952 to equine-illiterate parents, it became obvious early on that I was going to be a challenge. To my parents, horses were never in the picture, but I had other plans. When I was 8, we moved to Houston, Texas and acquired cats, dogs, birds, and even turtles - but no horses. What I couldn't have, I drew (and drew, and drew, and drew). At 16, we moved to a small town outside of Houston and I started my riding career on racehorses from a barn down the road from my home. My parents were horrified.
At that point, my life permanently changed. I yielded my life and heart to the God of all creation, my Lord and the author of my salvation. As I began to know and develop a relationship with the Lord, my life began to take on purpose and direction. I married a wonderful man, began an adventure in dressage, and wanted to draw and paint a collection of snapshot portraits of all that God has given us to see in his glorious creation.
