Description
A: We exist to help citizens report misconduct. We assist with the filing of complaints because we believe that accountability is critical to the public service mission of police organizations. Our efforts are not intended to hinder the police nor to embarrass officers without cause. However, we are sure that cases of misconduct and the failure to receive complaints by the police must be publicized to prevent their reoccurrence.
A: Our staff will help anyone that has been mistreated by police officials regardless of race. Although many of our investigations involve racial issues we recognize that anyone can be a victim of police misconduct. Our staff reflects our view on race. Our staff is diverse and includes Whites/European-Americans, African-Americans, Latinos and Asian-Ameri cans.
A: Some services require fees while many others do not. For assistance with filing your complaint there is no charge. However, if you desire that your complaint receive additional attention or if you want the police in your community investigated there may be fees.
