Title

State PIRGs Working Together

Description

The state Public Interest Research Groups are a network of independent, state-based, citizen-funded organizations that advocate for the public interest. Since 1970, we have been delivering results-oriented citizen activism to protect our environment, encourage a fair and sustainable economy, and foster a responsive democratic government. We uncover threats to public health and well-being and fight to end them, using the time-tested tools of investigative research, media exposes, grassroots organizing, advocacy and litigation.

On the occasion of our 30th anniversary, we pulled together just a sampling of the many successes state PIRGs have achieved over the years. Within these diverse stories - taking place over three decades in dozens of states on many issues - there is a common thread: research, organizing and advocacy. In each case, state PIRGs began by investigating the problems at hand, building support for concrete solutions among the public, and then persistently advocating change. I invite you to learn more about our work by reading our 30th anniversary retrospective, below.

Our 30th anniversary retrospective tells the stories of state PIRG achievements over the last three decades. Each chapter is available for download below.
