The Pintabian (pin-TAY-bee-an) is an "Arabian with spots." Pintabians have tobiano markings (not overo). Two solid colored horses can not produce a tobiano. Therefore, they were developed by continually crossing tobianos back to purebred Arabian horses until they were at least 99% purebred Arabian. About 50% of all Pintabian foals are colored (we take pride in knowing that even our solid colored Pintabians are of excellent Arabian conformation.)

Pintabians are bred for their beauty, stamina, intelligence, versatility and good disposition. They should have a distinctive appearance, which includes a head with a "dished" face and large, wide-set eyes. The neck is arched, the back short and strong, the hip relatively level and the tail carriage high. They generally stand between 14.2 and 15.2 hands and weigh between 900 and 1,100 pounds.
