Phytomed Medicinal Herbs Ltd is the largest manufacturer of medicinal herbal extracts in New Zealand. Since we launched our products onto the market in 1998 we have established a reputation of excellence among health professionals for producing top quality, efficacious herbal extracts and formulations.
Phytomed was founded by Phil Rasmussen, a pharmacist and British-trained phytotherapist who made a wide range of liquid herbal extracts for use in his own practice for several years prior to launching the company. Phil has a background in various aspects of pharmacy practice and has a masters degree in pharmacology, a subject he lectures on to students of naturopathy and herbal colleges.
Phytomed is a wholly New Zealand owned and operated company. We take great pride in actively supporting our local herb growing industry, and preferentially source herbs from New Zealand organic growers wherever possible. New Zealand produces some of the highest quality medicinal herbs in the world and we see no reason to look elsewhere when we have some of the worlds' best at our own back door. By adding value to these crops in our own country we are increasing the financial viability of this valuable industry, and are thereby also helping our economy.
